Our Curriculum
Welcome to our Curriculum Page
At Cotmanhay Infant and Nursery School we are proud to have an ambitious, interesting and engaging curriculum, designed to provide children in our community with enriching and enjoyable experiences. We put the children at the centre of all we do.
We aim to deliver carefully sequenced lessons that develop children’s curiosity in the world, whilst encouraging their love of learning and motivating them to succeed. We want to inspire our children to excel in every aspect of life, and aspire to grow into successful and confident citizens. In all our classrooms we have an aspirations display board where we share our ambitions for the future. This allows children to reach for their dreams and know that through developing self-regulation strategies, they can achieve anything.
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, embracing the Early Years Statutory Framework and the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum, alongside focussing on the high quality teaching of early reading, writing and maths. We also ensure our curriculum is enriched with real life opportunities so that children have first-hand experiences, which is essential to add to their cultural capital.
Our curriculum, policies and practise are driven by our motto, mission statement and vision; alongside our commitment to the British Values.

KEY VOCABULARY
Language development is a key priority across all areas and age groups within our school.
We include specific vocabulary that we teach in line with our skills and knowledge grids (these can be found on each of the curriculum pages) and these are embedded into our medium-term plans. We have this for all areas of learning from Cubs to year 2.
