As children progress from Reception, we are the gateway into main school. It is our aim to ensure that all of our children experience a smooth and seamless transition from the EYFS into our key stage. We aspire to give our children the skills needed to become independent and enthusiastic learners.

We work as a team to plan and deliver a broad range of exciting, challenging and motivating lessons based on the national curriculum. In the mornings learning is focused on English and Maths. To enable children to become confident and fluent readers we teach daily phonics lessons using the little wandle scheme which provide the building blocks needed to develop key reading skills. During our afternoons, topic activities provide the main focus.

Experiences throughout our year are linked closely to problem solving, reasoning and becoming independent thinkers and learners. Children will be involved in group work led by a teacher and a teaching assistant and independent work.

In Maths, children are given many opportunities to problem solve and apply to real life situations.

Children write for a purpose in English and read a variety of texts whilst developing what they have learned through daily phonics work.

Work is planned so that all children are given work that is at their level to ensure they are making the most progress they possibly can.

To send us anything you have been doing or any questions, please message us on the class dojo page.

Your child also has a unique profile and can upload any work or photos on this for the class teachers to see.

We LOVE to see anything you do at home so please always do share this with us on this area.
