PSHE/RHE
Welcome to our PSHE / RHE page!
🧍♀️ PSHE LEAD = MRS HOLMES
What is PSHE?
It stands for Personal, Social Health Education.
What is RHE?
It stands for Relationship and Health Education.
I've heard it referred to as RSE, what's this?
This stands for Relationship and Sex Education. We don't call it this in Infant and Nursery as we are teaching children about healthy relationships, being safe, body part names, belonging etc. We do not teach children about sex.
How is it taught?
We use a scheme called JIGSAW. This follows all the statutory content and does it brilliantly! Further down this page you will see what we focus on and when.
Everything is age appropriate.
Is it important?
YES!
- It's important children feel valued
- It's important children are proud of their individuality
- It's important children know that not all families are the same
- It's important we model how to care and make the right choices
- It's important children understand what safe means
- It's important children learn about trust
- It's important children learn about developing good relationships
THE BERT AWARD!
We have been awarded the BRONZE BERT AWARD by Derbyshire / Public Health England
Building Effective Relationships Together
This has supported us to:
- recognise and celebrate our work around wellbeing
- help children develop positive, safe and healthy relationships
- develop RHE provision to the high standards expected in latest national guidance
This was a tough award to get but this is an area we are passionate about and we want to do it the best we can.
Initiatives and events that our school are part of:
🧦 ODD SOCKS DAY 🧦
This celebrates everyone's differences and helps us understand that being different is good. Odd Socks Day is part of Anti-Bullying Week. Have a look at the photos below to see us in odd socks!
Smokefree School Gates Derbyshire
Our Year 2 children designed posters to ask people not to smoke at our school gates. These designs were then made into signs and put on our outside fencing
WRAP, SPLAT, HAT!
We are using this sun awareness initiative to help us be sun safe.
Mrs Holmes has led some assemblies about it.
