Safeguarding
Safeguarding at Cotmanhay Infants and Nursery School
Every child deserves the opportunity to learn and develop in an environment that is both safe and secure; here at Cotmanhay Infant and Nursery School we strive to offer an enabling environment for children, where risks are minimised and well managed, and children are protected from harm and abuse.
Our policies are reviewed regularly by the governing body and they apply to all staff, governors and volunteers working in the school. All adults in school read and agree to follow the following documents: School Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, Keeping Children Safe in Education, Working Together to Safeguard Children, Information Sharing and many more. Please ask if you would like to see a full list.
Please click here to view KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE IN EDUCATION. This is statutory guidance for schools and colleges on safeguarding children and safer recruitment.
We have policies and procedures in place to make sure we keep children safe and we might ask you questions about your child's welfare. Please understand it is our job to do this.
The government have instructed local authorities of the need to prevent people being drawn into terrorism. Find out more by reading our leaflet on it. It's also called the Prevent Duty.
Online Safety is a huge safeguarding issue and we have a clear policy that outlines everything we do in school to keep children safe online.

How do we know we are doing everything we can?
How do the Local Authority (Derbyshire County Council) know that our school are doing everything we can?
We complete a Safeguarding Audit called the S175. This goes to the Governors to be looked at and approved and then we send it to the Safeguarding Lead at Derbyshire County Council. From this we produce an action plan.
If you would like to see this, please make a request in the school office.
